A crossing of the Saale is required as part of the A143 western bypass in Halle. The Max Bögl Group was commissioned to build the imposing bridge. The project also includes the construction of a noise protection tunnel and cuttings with retaining walls.
The Saale bridge consists of a 183 m long, single-cell river bridge with 4000 tons of structural steel and two 785 m long, parallel foreland bridges with 23,000 m³ of prestressed concrete. Large bored piles up to 30 m deep with a diameter of up to 1.50 m are being constructed for the foundations.
A prefabrication facility for the current bridge will be set up in the Pit of the noise protection tunnel. The bridge will be welded together there and then moved across the Saale in one day - an exciting milestone for which the first preparatory work has already begun!
